In this video we are going to add a Linked Configuration to the Conveyor Configuration. In the first lesson we’ve created two simple configuration models. We’re going to work with these to show you how to add a linked configuration.
How to add Linked Configurations
-
Open the Conveyor Configuration (Parent Model).
-
Click on the plus icon of the Feature “Linked Configuration”.
-
Click on the option: Add Configuration model.
-
Select the Configuration Model: “Conveyor 1”
-
Select the Configuration Model type: "Seperate Configuration Model".
-
Click on Save
You have now added the Linked Model to you Configuration.
When you click on the dropdown, you will see two new options appear “edit” and “open”. Let’s go over these options and explain what you can do with these options.
When you click on “open” you will be navigated to the Configuration Model you’ve added to the parent model. When working with linked configurations you will create a Convenient model in which you won’t lose track of hundreds of features.
Managing Linked Models
When you click on the edit button a new pop-up window appears with a lot of Managing options for the Linked Configuration. Let’s go through all the options:
Show in dialog switch – With this option, you can select if the linked configuration will be included in the parent model (When selected) or if a dialog window will open by clicking on the pencil.
- Multiplier - A multiplier allows users to multiply the linked configuration through an input field. Multiplying a configuration does not result in additional Quotation groups, it will result in one multiplied Quotation group. The contents of this group will remain identical to a regular configuration, but all of the price related properties will be multiplied by the given factor. Requires Settings > Quotations > Quotation group multiplier to be enabled. Note: this feature does not work in combination with linked 3D models.
- Combine into Quotation Group - The option Combine into Quotation Group combines all instances of this Linked Model into the parent quotation group. This option cannot be combined with a Multiplier.
- Multiple instances - Allows users to add instances of the Linked Model. Adding another instance is done through duplicating an already configured instance or adding a new one. Each instance will result in its own Quotation group. Note: this feature does not work in combination with linked 3D models.
- Constraints - These constraints are used to link certain features from one Model to the Linked Model.
