In this lesson we're going to create another Feature Property, this one is of the Input type.
Feature Property: Input
You choose a Feature Property of this type when:
-
Calculations must be made with the values of the Feature Property.
For each assigned Feature, the value of this Feature Property must be typed.
Feature Properties of type Input are used, for example, to calculate required quantities of materials. For example, table legs have a length of 80 cm. The table leg has a Feature Property of the type: Input assigned to it, called Length. For the value of that Feature Property, 80 is typed in.
Creating Feature Property: Input
In this video we're going to create another feature property, this one is one of the input type. We’re going to give the wheel caps a inputfield for the diameter. All of the wheel caps of the Roadmaster 100 have a diameter so we’re going to give all of them this Property
When creating the Features for the wheel caps, we gave them a size. We put these in the names of the Features. We’re going to create a Feature Property for them. So let’s dive into the EMS.
-
Go to the Feature Properties page. You can find this under the tab for masterdata.
-
Under Feature Properties, we create the Property: “inch size” and change the type to “input”.
-
Under Features with Property we now see the button change from create new Associated Feature to assign property to Features.
-
We click this button and look up wheel cap 1 through 6 and add them. The Features appear in the Feature Property and the Input Property has a value of 0:
Now we’re going to give the Features a value. These values we’re going to use in the next video to calculate with.
● Wheelcap 1, 2 en 3 have an size of 15 inch
● Wheelcap 4,5 en 6 have an size of 14 inch
We can also modify this value from within the Feature in the same way as an Associated Feature.
A quick reminder: Go to the Feature and under Feature Property, a new box has appeared with the name inch size. From here you can also change the value of the Property
Assignment
Now you are going to add another Feature Property. For the wheel caps, create the Feature Property called “Number of bolts” with the type input. The 14-inch wheel cap have 5 bolts. The 15-inch wheel caps have 8 bolts.
