Configuration Model Layout
When we open our Configuration Model in the Order Entry, we see a significant amount of questions to scroll through. You have to scroll a lot, especially if you have a small screen, in order to get to the end of the list. With Elfsquad, there is no limit to the number of Features you can add to a model, which means you can get a very long questionnaire. Using the Step Editor you can customize the layout of your model and make it easier as well as more user-friendly for the user to go through all the questions.
We click on Editor in the left menu and then click on Step Editor. Again we see our model the Roadmaster 100 listed here, we open it by clicking on it. We can now create a step:
-
We click on 'Click here to create a step'.
-
In the first step, we only want to see the dimensions, so we call this step Dimensions.
-
At the bottom, type, the following terms listed:
-
Hotspots: this means 2d visualizations that can be placed on top of each other. We can add a Hotspot to the 2d visualizations, then the user can then go to the drop-down menu of that item by clicking on the image.
-
3d: this means that we can load a 3d model. A 3d model can change according to the Features chosen.
(In another training we will go deeper into these types). -
For now, we leave the type for now on Hotspots and click save;
-
A new screen now appears, at the top, we see our first step Dimensions.
-
We are now going to select the Features we want to see in this step.
-
Click on 'Features in step' and on 'add visible Features'.
-
We now see the structure of our Configuration Model;
-
Since we now only want to see the Feature dimensions, we select the Parent Feature Dimensions.
The Feature dimensions are now assigned to the step dimensions. We close the Step Editor and return to the order entry, the Step Editor is automatically saved. When we configure our model we see in step Dimensions we can only see the Dimensions. Our other Features are now in step 2, Additional options. If Features are not in a step but are visible in the model, an additional step is automatically created to show these Features.
We return to the Step Editor and click on Features in step one more time. We have just selected the Parent Dimensions. Now we only select the Children of Dimensions and return to the Order Entry. The Feature Dimensions are no longer visible and the Children: Length Truck, Height, and Load Area Contents are now on the first level.
Assignment
Make sure all Features are in a step, try to make 3 or 4 steps. Also remember the Feature settings (Relationship property) for the 'Hide in Order Entry' option. Make sure your model is organized and easy to use.
Good luck!
