The multiplier option allows users to specify how many of certain sub-configuration they would like to order. (configuration details).
In the previous video we’ve added our linked configuration to our Parent model. For this example we’re going to build a configurator for an industrial bel conveyor. The belt conveyor can be split up in multiple belt conveyors. Instead of adding the same belt conveyor over and over again, it is better to use a Multiplier. A Multiplier adds an extra option to add the same Linked Configuration, multiple times. In this lesson we’re going to show you how to add a Multiplier and how to use it in you configuration.
Adding a Multiplier to your Configuration
First we are going to add the multiplier to our configuration model.
-
Open the Configuration Model: "Belt conveyor Configuration (Parent Model)".
-
Click on the chevron in front of the Feature: Linked Configuration
-
Click on Edit
-
Click on the toggle in front of the Multiplier.
You can see that the option “Combine into quotation group” disappears when you add a Multiplier. This is because the Multiplier and the Combine into Quotation Group function aren’t compatible with each other. The multiplier is compatible with the multiple instances function. This will be looked at in the next video.
When you now select the Belt Conveyor, you see a new field appear. This field is an input field in which you can specify how many times you want to add the same Linked Configuration to your parent Configuration and to your quotation.
Making Multipliers visible on Quotations
A multiplier ensures that a lot of time is saved when Configuring a product. When you add your Configuration you add it to the Quotation. But when looking at this Quotation, you’ll maybe notice that it looks like the quotation only has one linked configuration. When creating the Quotation, Elfsquad will send this information as one Configuration to the Quotation. When you check the price on the Quotation should be correct.
This can be confusing for some quotations so we've added a setting to show this in the correct way on the Quotation. If you want to show this, you have to take te following steps:
-
Go to the settings page
-
Click on the Quotations tab.
-
Turn on the Quotation Group Multiplier
When this function is turned on, the Multiplier will be visible in the Quotation Group.
You now know how to add a Multiplier to your Configuration. In the next lesson we are going to look into the Multiple Instances. This setting is also compatible with the Multiplier. In the next lesson we will show you how to combine these two.
