Calculating with Feature Properties
In the previous videos, we’ve added the Feature Properties to the wheel caps. We’ve given the Features a value with an Associated Value and an Input Property. But when we configure the Configuration Model we do not see these Properties appear anywhere. So now we’re going to make them visible in the Configuration Model.
The wheel caps contain a Feature Property, “Number of bolt holes”, with the type “Input”. We can use a formula to retrieve or show it in the Configuration Model. Using an example, we will show you how to do that:
- In the configuration model 'Roadmaster 100', create a new Feature called 'Inch size wheel'.
- Add a Calculated Value to the Feature.
- Choose as a variable the Feature WheelCaps (Parent of all possible hubcaps).
- Check children
- At Property choose Inch Size
- Retrieve the variable in the formula field by inserting: @Wheelcaps.
If we now configure the Roadmaster 100 Configuration Model, we will see that the "inch size" of the wheel corresponds to the selected wheel size.
Assignment
In addition to the selected inch size, we would also like to let the user know how many bolt holes the rim has. Create a Feature where you can retrieve the Feature Property bolt holes.
